About this policy
Chirper is a Discord application being developed for roleplay profiles, posts, and conversations. In this policy, “Chirper,” “we,” and “our” mean the team operating the Chirper website and bot.
This policy covers information handled through our website, the bot, and requests sent to our team. Chirper is currently under development. The bot features described here apply when those features are made available and used.
Discord and individual server owners manage their own services. Their handling of information is covered by their own policies, including Discord’s Privacy Policy.
Information we handle
The information needed depends on the feature you use. For the bot, this can include:
- Discord account and interaction details
- Your Discord user ID, username, display name, avatar, and the commands or interactions you send to Chirper. These connect an action to the correct account and let the bot respond.
- Chirper profiles and content
- The profile details, post text, replies, and image attachments or image links you provide. These allow Chirper to create and display the content you choose to share.
- Activity within Chirper
- Actions such as following a profile, liking a post, or reposting content, together with the identifiers and timestamps needed to keep those actions associated with the right content.
- Server configuration
- Discord server, channel, role, and message IDs, relevant permissions, and settings chosen by server administrators. These determine where Chirper operates and how enabled features behave.
- Support and technical information
- Information you send with a support request, report, or privacy request, and relevant error or event details needed to investigate it. Please share only what is necessary for the issue.
Bot interaction data comes from Discord and from the information you submit. Server settings come from authorized server administrators. A permission granted to the bot is not permission to collect unrelated conversations.
On our website, your browser stores your theme preference. The website host may process basic connection information, such as IP addresses and request logs, to deliver and protect the site.
Chirper does not ask for your Discord password or account token. Do not include passwords, payment details, or sensitive personal information in a roleplay profile or post.
How information is used
We use information to run the features you request, maintain profiles and posts, apply server settings, handle support and moderation reports, diagnose problems, and meet legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information, provide Discord data to advertising networks or data brokers, or use Discord message content to train AI models. We do not use bot data to build advertising profiles about users.
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, providing the requested service is based on performing our agreement with you. Keeping the service reliable and addressing abuse are based on our legitimate interests, balanced against your rights. Legal obligations may also require processing. Where an optional use requires consent, we will ask first and allow you to withdraw it.
Visibility and sharing
Content you publish is shared with its intended audience. Profiles, posts, replies, and related activity may be visible to members of the Discord server or channel where you use Chirper, depending on the feature and server permissions. Other people can copy or share content they can see.
If you use an anonymous posting option, do not assume that it makes you unidentifiable to Chirper or Discord. It concerns how the post is presented to its audience; account and technical records may still connect the action to you.
Information is handled by the Chirper team and providers used to host, store, and operate the service as needed for those tasks. Discord receives the information necessary to deliver bot interactions and published content. We may also share information at your explicit direction or when the law requires it.
Service providers must handle information only for the work they perform for Chirper. If processing involves a transfer between countries, the safeguards required by applicable data protection law must be in place.
How long data is kept
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose described in this policy. Profiles, content, and associated activity are retained while needed to provide those features. Server configuration is needed while the relevant setup is in use. Support and technical records are limited to resolving the issue and related necessary follow-up.
We may ask for reasonable verification that a deletion request comes from you or someone authorized to act for you. After any necessary verification, we promptly delete the Discord API data covered by your request, unless the law requires us to retain specific information.
We also promptly delete Discord API data when Discord requires it, when it is no longer needed for the permitted service, when we stop operating Chirper, or when deletion is required by law. Any legally required retention is limited to the information and period that the law requires.
Deleting information held by Chirper does not automatically remove screenshots, copies kept by other users, or information independently held by Discord. Requests about Discord’s own records should be directed to Discord.
Access, correction, and deletion
Need to access, correct, or delete your information?
Contact the Chirper team through our support Discord and say that you are making a privacy request.
- Tell us whether your request concerns your Chirper profile, a server you manage, or particular content.
- Provide your Discord user ID and enough detail to locate the relevant information. Share account details privately with the team, not in a public channel.
- We may ask you to verify that the account or server belongs to you before releasing or changing information. We will never need your password or account token.
You can stop using Chirper at any time. Server administrators can remove the bot or adjust its permissions in Discord. Removing the bot does not recall content already posted; you can separately ask us to delete information held by Chirper.
Depending on your location, you may also have rights to receive a copy of your information, object to certain uses, restrict processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a data protection authority. We will handle requests within the time required by applicable law.
Security
We are responsible for protecting information handled by Chirper and limiting access to people and providers who need it to operate the service. No online service or method of storage can promise absolute security.
If you suspect that Chirper has exposed personal information or that an account has been compromised, contact the team through our support Discord. Please report the issue privately and do not include someone else’s personal information in a public report. We will investigate and notify affected users and Discord when required.
Age requirements
Chirper is not intended for anyone who does not meet Discord’s minimum age requirement for their country or region. If you believe someone below that age has provided personal information to Chirper, please contact us so we can investigate and remove information as appropriate.
Updates and contact
We may update this policy as Chirper develops. The date at the top identifies the latest revision. Material changes will be explained through the website or support server before they take effect where required, and we will obtain consent when the law requires it.
For questions about this policy or a privacy request, contact the Chirper team on Discord. Our Terms of Service explain the rules for using Chirper.
